Today in class…
We talked about why writing is important and we and Mr. R, came up with these four reasons: communication, expression, reflection, and thinking. Trough writing you can communicate with people and talk with them and tell them about problems or good things in the world. You can also express your feelings, ideas and opinions. Another thing you can do is reflect on something that is happening and make people think about a certain topic that might touch them or maybe it’s a topic that is big problem right now, like Global Warming, or poverty. We also talked about why it is important for us to do this activity “Today in class…”, because it will make us listen more, because we have to take notes of what is being said in class to be able to do this activity when we get home.
The second thing we talked about was poems. The title tells us basically what the poem is about, and it is important to read a poem out loud because it will sound different than when you are just reading it quietly to yourself. Some questions you can ask when you have read it is, can you figure out the meaning of the poem? Is it a realistic or a symbolic poem?
I learned that no word in a poem is accidental. Every single word is well thought out, so a real poet will probably use a long time, if they are always changing words to get the right ones and then changing them back anyway.
I daydreamed about what I was going to do on the weekend, but I didn’t come up with anything interesting.
I didn’t really have anything I wanted to say, which I usually don’t have anyway.
Thanks for listening. Good post
